You really honestly think it's the governments place to tell you what tires to put on your car, how aerodynamic it should be etc. etc. there are many examples of how terrible cars are produced when somone concentrates solely on one aspect too much, whether it's emissions, milage, or safety (Bricklin SV1 comes to mind). What your not getting in all of this is that we all want more fuel efficient vehicles, even us conservatives. The debate is over how much choice (ie: freedom) should we give up for how small a gain.
